Princeton Admits 4 Percent of Applicants to the Class of 2030

Princeton University announced that it admitted just 4.0% of applicants to the Class of 2030, the lowest acceptance rate in school history. The rate was drawn from a pool of 46,618 applicants, and the university enrolled 1,414 first-year students, just shy of its 1,425-student expansion goal. Yield climbed to 76%, among the highest in recent years, and the university admitted 29 students from its waitlist.

The incoming class includes 8.4% Black or African American students, up from 5% in the Class of 2029; 29.1% white; 23% Asian American; and 9.7% Hispanic or Latino students. International students make up 12.9% of the class, down 1.2 percentage points from last year. First-generation college students rose to 19%, up from 16.7%, while legacy admits held at 12%. Seventy-one percent of the class is receiving financial aid, and 25% are Pell Grant eligible.
