The Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced today that it admitted a total of 1,438 applicants to the Class of 2021.  

A total of 20,247 applications were submitted this year, resulting in an overall admission rate of 7.1 percent.

Georgia Tech announced today that it admitted 23 percent of applicants to the Class of 2021.  

In total, 7,297 students were admitted from a total pool of 31,484 early action and regular decision applicants.

Vanderbilt University reported yesterday that it admitted 23.6 percent of Early Decision I/II applicants to the Class of 2021.

The Common App essay prompts for 2017-18 are now available.  Three of the five original prompts have been revised, and two new prompts have been added.  The word count limit remains at 650.

The University of Virginia announced today that it admitted 5,914 early action applicants to the Class of 2021.  

A total of 20,446 early action applications were received, up 22 percent from the previous year, resulting in an early admission rate of 29 percent.  47 percent of in-state applicants were admitted while 22 percent of out-of-state applicants were admitted.

Boston University admitted 916 applicants to the Class of 2021 under Early Decision I.  

The total number of early decision I applicants grew to 2,142, resulting in an admission rate of 42 percent.

Another 2,039 applications were received for Early Decision II, with notifications planned for mid-February.  In total, Boston University plans to enroll approximately 35 percent of the the Class of 2021 through students admitted early decision.

Boston College announced today that it admitted 2,900 restrictive early action applicants to the Class of 2021.  

A total of 9,000 early action applications were received this year, up 5 percent, resulting in an early admission rate of 33 percent.  

Boston College hopes to fill approximately 30 percent of the Class of 2021 with students accepted early action.

Georgia Tech announced today that it admitted 4,380 early action applicants to the Class of 2021.  

Early action applications grew to 15,715, resulting in an early action admission rate of 28 percent—49 percent for residents and 21 percent for non-residents.

Northwestern University admitted approximately 26 percent of early decision applicants to the Class of 2021.  

A total of 3,736 early decision applications were received this year, up 20 percent. With total applications topping 37,000, the overall admission rate is projected to fall under 10 percent.

Middlebury College announced today that it admitted 343 early decision I applicants to the Class of 2021.  

A total of 673 early decision I applications were received this year, up 6.5 percent from last year, resulting in an early admission rate of 51 percent.

Middlebury expects admitted early decision applicants to comprise 51 percent of the targeted class size of 705.

Emory College admitted 474 Early Decision I applicants to the Class of 2021.

A total of 1,493 ED1 applications were received this year, up 9 percent from the previous year.  The overall ED1 admission rate was 32 percent.
